Now I know: NYS is fucked up

I didn’t know if I wanted to post this or not. It seems [too] personal & at the same time, it shows how screwed up NYS really is.

Here goes. In the mail today was a letter from the SCU. They want to begin making payments to debit/Master Card accounts & issue a new credit cards to persons receiving child support through the State of New York. I already have one Master Card, what makes them think I want another? I choose not to have a bank debit card, what makes them think I want their’s?

This is the best part:

I have the option to opt of this new thing by: “submit in writing identifying your hardship to: [their address provided].

Can anyone [please] tell me what “hardship” is there in wanting my money sent to me in the form of a paper check?

Anyone?

It gets better. There is a toll free number I can call “with questions”. Which means I’ll spend 45 minutes wasting my time listening to a voice recording… “if you’d like information about this, pless 1. If you would like information about this, press 2″ only to end up with a [live] person telling me I have to make a request in writing identifying the hardship of wanting my money sent by paper check.

I hate to say it :( this State sucks.

The new system will probably save tax payer money. People are creatures of habit. Change can be a difficult option even if in reality it may work better.

I would normally agree with you Willie. This is different. This is 3 little words: CREDIT CARD LOBBYING. Why should people have to collect their child support from a New York State Master Card? How is wanting a paper check a “hardship”?

ATM\\\’s charge a fee for transactions. In or out, the credit cards are trying to control our money passed through the government. Credit cards are the largest lobbiest in the country.
