Chris & Chris in both ears [updated]

I was a little disappointed that I had to miss Chris Byrd’s radio show with guest Buffalo Geek until tonight. There’s a link on In da Buff to listen to his talk show if you couldn’t hear it live. I plugged in my headphones & turned it up.

Buffalo Geek gave a little more of the new ideas coming to WNYmedia.net.

I loved the part about babies turning into teenagers. I had to laugh because I am knee-deep in teenagerness ;) Now that there are new little ones up & coming, I remember a lot of things of when my own were little.

To: Buffalo & Mrs. Geek, wait until you see the endless amount of smiles you can get from the sound of your voice. It’s precious. Your best is yet to come.

To: “Byrdman”. Your show was great even if I had to wait until the next day to hear it. I can’t wait to hear more.

Updated: I posted before listening to the end of the show.

I think Kevin from Bflo Blog was great. He gave a top notch review of the Sabres & fans.

Living in the big machine

Buffalo Pundit has great post going about the minimum wage increase. I chimed in a with a comment I wrote before I headed off to work yesterday:

Not all min. wage workers are young or students. Props to Jen for saying everything else has gone up. It will keep going up. I’m making min. wage & with the increase I’m not going to be any more ahead than when I was making $5.25 an hour because costs of everything else keeps increasing. Has anyone been to Tops or Wegman’s lately? They jacked their prices up on everything. A nickel or dime here or there, 50¢ more on this or that. The same price for ice cream but in a smaller container. It all adds up. It doesn’t take long to realize that “raise” is eaten up by all the other cost of living increases.

I wanted to expand this comment more. Call this “a day in the life of a part-time worker” making that $7.15 an hour. I pride myself on quality customer service persona. I don’t know all of the politicking behind the minimum wage increase. I know I work hard & I do my best for what I’m paid.

I discovered I’m living in the big machine. Working my ass off to stay below middle class. Mr. President are you reading this?

I’ll go to work today, hang up my coat & begin my shift like usual. I’ll smile & I’ll be helpful. I won’t think about the political gabbing behind my ”raise”. I’m happy to have my job. I love my job.

Props to the Goo Goo Dolls for a damn great title.
