Cable connection

I know a few people who were down today because of internet connection problems. I’m happy my dear good friend is back online ;)

The good & the bad

I just heard Buffalo Pundit won. Which means Jennifer didn’t & even sadder, Marc didn’t win.

New Larry the Cable Guy movie

I can’t wait to see this one.

Delta Farce: the previews look funny.

My new look

I needed something new. ;)

Do you love me? Now that I can dance…

Jennifer’s blog has a great Dirty Dancing quiz to take:

I can’t believe I missed Question #6. I’ve watched this movie at least a hundred times over the last 20 years & I should have known the opening credits song.

Thank you Michele Johnson

We came upon a [very private, very serious] family issue over the weekend. When it comes to housing issues, concerns, questions… my man & I called on the one name noted with housing & etc intellect - Michele Johnson.

We both thought she couldn’t do a lot because it was the weekend but I gave it a try anyway. An email led to two phone calls in two days. Michele Johnson was a calm voice in a situation [which I am not going to discuss further] that couldn’t be talked about with anyone on a Saturday & Sunday afternoon.

This is somthing that got me thinking. I know of no city person who would take a call over the weekend. I know enough to know that anyone with a city job would leave work on a Friday, resume on Monday & not dedicate as much as Michele did [for us] this weekend. She took two calls in two days about a problem & gave more to looking into a specific situation. What city person has ever said that to you with sincerity? No one I know.

Just by everything I have heard & read, Michele Johnson would be the perfect candidate as Director of Housing in the city of Buffalo. After today, I think her job as community activist is more important than any city job that can’t be reached over the weekend … especially where [little] children are involved.

Michele, after today I realized you’re needed right where you are now. Having a city job isn’t going to answer every call of help when it is needed. Right now & where you are has worked out better than any city job could know about & you’re with child.

I haven’t met you yet [I know we will sometime soon ;)] this weekend on a personal note has been the best you could ever be & you don’t need a city job to tell you that much. ;)

If anyone who has ever needed her help, we don’t have to have “Michele Johnson” attached with a housing title to tell us she is a hero to the city of Buffalo. Michele, you are thanked beyond any words I can blog. Because we exchanged words, the problem isn’t 100% resolved but heat was restored for two little ones under 5 years old.

We’ll be in touch [privately] but I wanted to say: even if you don’t become Buffalo’s housing icon, you’re still an icon to this family.

“Love ya” more than I can say. Speaking for a 7 month old… thank you Michele.

Garbage tote fines & the newest ticket blitz

I was informed by my councilman the city is going heavy on fining residents who have their blue garbage totes showing from the street. It is law in Buffalo that all gargabe bins have to be out of the eye from the sidewalk. The fine is $52 & they have been writing tickets left & right, even to the seniors. :(

If you’re living in the city of Buffalo, take note & move your garbage tote ASAP unless you want a big fine.

I love this movie

Dream Girls comes out Tuesday on DVD. It’s one worth adding to my movie library.

Gordon wins 2nd from the pole

Last week Jeff Gordon did it. After a second green/white/checkered start at Talladega [Stewart spent the week drawing so much attention to himself], Tony got involved in tangle of cars just after the restart. Gordon won under the yellow/checkered flags. It was a tough break for Klye Busch who had two hard crashes in two days. One thing I know about the fastest track in Nascar, there’s no holding back at Talladega. ;) I’ll have more later.

Updated with picture: Fed-Up had her feet up

The Rangers just won in second overtime.

Sweet Home Alabama & Let’s go Buffalo

Gotta love the green/white/checkered finishes. ;) Wrapping up yesterday’s Busch series racing from Nascar.com:

Labonte passes teammate Stewart to win at Talladega
Kyle Busch feeling fine after spectacular crash on Lap 27

TALLADEGA, Ala. — Bobby Labonte pushed teammate Tony Stewart to the lead, then won with a dramatic pass in the last 200 yards Saturday in the Busch Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Labonte, a Nextel Cup star, came away with his 10th Busch win and first since 1998, beating Stewart, a two-time Cup champion, to the finish line by less than a car-length in a race that came down to a green-white-checkers finish because of a late caution.

Casey Mears and Kevin Harvick were out front when debris from the battered car of Kasey Kahne brought out a caution flag on Lap 115, just three laps from the scheduled finish of the Aaron’s 312.

NASCAR waved the green flag again for the overtime finish at the start of Lap 119 and Labonte, who restarted seventh, moved in behind Stewart, who was fifth, and the two Chevrolets, both owned by Harvick, worked in tandem shooting to the front.

After the stink Stewart created all week, I really thought he’d drive his Old Spice car to a win. What a finish by Labonte though.

We’re a few short hours away from Nextel Cup racing & Buffalo Sabres hockey. We’re looking for a third win over the Rangers.

Have a great day everyone ;)
