Here’s what I know so far. We’re going to get together for Game Four of the Stanley Cup. Probably at JJ’s, which is a cool sports bar attached to Casa di Pizza located at 477 Elmwood, at the corner of Elmwood and Hodge. Game Four is scheduled for Monday, June 4th at 8:00, but I see no harm in showing up a little earlier.
I can’t make it because of work. So have a great time & I can’t wait to read all about it.
Stay tuned to Bfloblog for further details. Comments are closed.
You knew the Coca-Cola 600 was going to be an exciting race. Last night, the longest event of the season, it was a wild one & hard to keep track of which drivers went out at what point of caution.
Hard tires, aggressive drivers a volatile mix
CONCORD, N.C. — Jeff Green’s crumpled racecar sat in the rear of the Nextel Cup garage area, littering the concrete with fluid. Jeff Burton’s car rolled back onto the track with a large piece of plastic covering its collapsed rear end. And Jeff Gordon’s vehicle was towed in by a wrecker, its front end smashed and left side bent in from a vicious T-bone hit.
Fireworks erupted in the longest event of the NASCAR season long before the sun went down, with 19 different drivers caught up in array of accidents spanning the first 78 laps of Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600. The Lowe’s Motor Speedway garage was a triage unit before the field had completed even a quarter of the 400-lap event, with crews making desperate attempts to fix wrecked cars and drivers seeing their hopes dashed before dinnertime.
The most prominent was points leader Jeff Gordon, whose run of seven straight top-four finishes ended when he made contact with the car of Tony Raines on Lap 61. Gordon’s No. 24 car slammed the wall, and was broadsided so hard by the onrushing vehicle of A.J. Allmendinger that it bounced into the air. Prior to the accident, Gordon had completed every lap on the Nextel Cup circuit this season.
A long time coming for Kyle Petty who had his best finish in 10 years.
Petty brings home best finish since Dover in 1997 Third-place finish moves the driver up to 26th in points
CONCORD, N.C. — Kyle Petty felt the need to make a house call prior to the start of the Coca-Cola 600 Sunday at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
He wanted to cheer up an old friend who has recently fallen on hard times in the racing world.
“It’s funny. I went and saw Michael Waltrip before the race started,” Petty said. “I think everybody knows what those guys are going through [at Michael Waltrip Racing]. We went through the same thing at Petty Enterprises; I went through the same thing at Petty Enterprises, missing races. And I told him, ‘You didn’t forget how to drive a racecar. Michael Waltrip has not forgotten how to drive a racecar.’”
Apparently, neither has Kyle Petty.
After giving his pep talk to Waltrip, who crashed during qualifying and sat out his 11th consecutive Nextel Cup race, Petty parlayed a strong racecar and a fuel-mileage gamble at the end into an impressive third-place finish in the grueling Coca-Cola 600. It was Petty’s best Cup finish — he also placed third at Dover — since the fall of 1997.
Lap 400 — CHECKERED FLAG: Casey Mears wins the Coca-Cola 600, his first Nextel Cup victory, then runs out of gas on the cool-down lap. He’s followed to the line by J.J. Yeley, Kyle Petty, Reed Sorenson and Brian Vickers.
Casey Mears behind the wheel of the Army National Guard car takes his first ever checkered flag this Memorial weekend.
I can’t remember the last time Klye Petty got a top 5 finish. Congrats KP! It was quite a sight. I was glued to the TV to see your interview.

Do not let your kids eat a “theater size” box (7 0z) of Nerds at one time. Jazz & his sugar rush was driving me bonkers. I can only imagine how he is in school when he has coco-puffs & chocolate milk for breakfast. The Nerds box says it’s 13 servings. Next time he get’s a tablespoon (suggested serving) a day. He consumed the entire box of Tiny, Tangy, Chrunchy Candy without me knowing.
I remember when Nerds came out & loved their two flavor boxes. I used to sprinkle them on my vanilla icecream in the summer time. Mmmm
I don’t read the Niagara Falls Reporter daily. In fact hardly will I read it at all (I have enough to keep up with in Buffalo) but because Rus Thompson linked to this article I had to read it.
I found the best quote for this holiday weekend:
Congratulations. You’ve just paid the Western New York Commuter Tax.
I should make a huge sign saying that & place it in the back window of our vehicle after paying the toll to Grand Island in nickels.
