Rus Thompson sent this to my email today….
The federal government gave us 1.6 Billion dollars for our portion of the road use tax. Basically that is the 19 cents per gallon tax we pay for a gallon of gas.
This money was given to the State Department of Transportation and the legislative leaders in Albany hand the money out. Out of the 1.6 billion Western New York’s share was supposed to be 400 million, the actual amount we got was 18 million.
Now calling for a toll increase and our roads being in such a sad stste of dis repair local governments are looking for $$ for roads. We should not have to wonder anymore where this money goes. It goes into the coffers of the Albany politicians instead of the raods.
This leaves us 382 million in the hole for road repair monies.
Then you look at the post and pictures up over at SouthBuffaloBlogger and you really start to wonder why they can’t just use our money for what it is intended.
$1.6 Billion for this?
