Some helpful tips I read about:

Taking a walk, sitting in a different chair, keep moving/active, try to avoid others who smoke, ask friends to help and be supportive. Remove reminders of smoking, ashtrays, lighters, old/empty cigarette packages.

I was told that brushing teeth after eating helps to curb the craving of a cigarette.

here’s the deal: cigarette cravings are a lot like hunger pangs.

At the first faint pang of hunger, do you drop everything and go eat? Or, do you reasonably say “right; I want some food- I’ll get to that in a while when it is convenient/scheduled/whatever. You’re in charge; the pang is just your body mentioning it’s current state.

Same thing with smoking. You get a craving, and you go “great; thanks for the info, body- but I’m not into that anymore.”

It’s still tough sometimes, so good luck, but just remember who’s in charge of you: you.
